Summer’s officially drawing to a close and although we don’t care much to admit it, it’s (almost) time to face reality. 

Here’s how to ensure you’ve got your act together and can get out the door looking polished and professional – quickly.

Use multi-tasking products

Do you really need to apply a serum, primer, SPF and moisturiser each morning? Call us lazy, but we’ll take an extra ten minutes in bed over a never-ending skincare routine any day. The trick? Multi-tasking skincare products that cover all bases (literally) in just one step. The same goes for your make-up bag; look to time-saving products like a BB cream to skimp on minutes spent in front of the mirror.

Plan your outfits in advance

Stay one step ahead of the game and set aside some time on Sunday to go through the upcoming week, planning your outfits to match your diary. By getting it all out of the way before the week starts, you’ll sleep peacefully knowing you’ll never have the inevitable Monday morning nothing-to-wear dilemma and avoid last minute panic dressing before you rush off to work.

Dry shampoo is your new BFF

Skip the time-consuming wash and blow dry each morning and spruce up bed hair with a blast of dry shampoo to the roots; it’ll quickly create the illusion of a freshly washed do. When you’ve only got thirty seconds before you dash off, a sleek top knot is a fail-safe alternative for a shortcut to chic, and can be done on the run.

Make a power breakfast smoothie the night before

Forget making your brekkie in the morning or even worse – skipping breakfast because you’ve run out of time; the night before is the perfect time to prep. Throw a healthy dose of oats, fruit and coconut milk into a blender et voila, you have your own, ready-to-go brekkie to store in the fridge the night before to grab and go in the morning.

Swap your workout for a power walk

In an ideal world, we’d have a glorious session at the gym, before setting off for work. In reality, we’ve barely got time to get dressed, let alone workout. Instead, maximise your commute by power-walking to work (or as far as you can). Pack refreshing wipes and deodorant to freshen up in a flash, and keep a pair of heels under your desk to slip into on arrival.
