To celebrate Spring Bank Holidays, we’ve scoped out four of Europe’s most brag-worthy brunch spots to add to your little black book…
LONDON: BOURNE & HOLLINGSWORTH BUILDINGS
42 Northampton Road, Clerkenwell | bandhbuildings.com
THE VIBE: Eclectic cool. Plush velvet armchairs with bold floral accents complement the refined interiors and fresh bouquets. It’s the go-to spot for in-the-know Londoners.
THE MENU: There’s a hefty brunch menu – from Huevos Benedictos to braised beef. Oh, and if the bottomless Bellini brunch with fresh peach fruit purée doesn’t beckon you, we don’t know what will.
THE GUESTLIST: Take your interiors-loving mum and no doubt she’ll rave about this for months to come.
THE OOTD: Dressed-down chic. Casually tuck a button-down shirt into skinny jeans and complete the look with a velvet wide-brim hat and loafers.
Oude Koornmarkt 32 | pasta-hippo-vino.be
THE VIBE: Cosy, charming and a twist on tradition. With eye-catching interiors – multiple floors and a glass roof that lets in plenty of light as well as a view of the nearby cathedral – this Italian-French restaurant is a must-see when you’re in town.
THE MENU: A mouth-watering menu of homemade tapenades and tagliatelle that promise love at first bite. Start with the beef carpaccio with parmesan and capers, and move on to the black tagliatelle with fresh calamari, tomato and black olives.
THE GUESTLIST: Take your pasta-loving BFF and do some people watching while sipping on a glass of rosé.
THE OOTD: Antwerp is a stomping ground for the fashion-forward, so dress to impress with a silk floral-print blouse, wide-leg trousers and brogues.
55 Percy Place | angelinas.ie
THE VIBE: Laid-back. Perched along the banks of the Grand Canal, Angelina’s is an Italian restaurant with a relaxed feel. The deep-red leather booths add a splash of colour to the industrial-style space.
THE MENU: Smoked salmon on maple bacon blinis, savoury waffles with poached black figs, parmesan fries… the sumptuous menu is inspired by the sun-soaked flavours of Italy and we approve.
THE GUESTLIST: Take the girls. Book a terrace side table (for tranquil canal views). Tuck in!
THE OOTD: This one calls for a slogan sweatshirt, leather leggings and ballet flats. Or if the sun is out in full force, team a lightweight knit with leather shorts and studded boots.
MILAN: ERBA BRUSCA
Alzaia Naviglio Pavese, 286 Milan | erbabrusca.it
THE VIBE: Oozing countryside charm. Tucked away at the end of Naviglio Pavese, this orto con cucina (or garden with kitchen) is an oasis away from the bustling streets of Milan, in fact it’s located on the outskirts of town. With colour-block decor, floor-to-ceiling windows and its very own scene-stealing vegetable garden.
THE MENU: The Eggs Benedict is one of the best in Milan. There are also plenty of hearty staples such as panzanella, risotto with asparagus and salami and pickled okra, all sourced from the best local ingredients.
THE GUESTLIST: Picture-perfect for an intimate rendezvous to remember. So we say take your date on a Sunday and wander the streets beforehand.
THE OOTD: Feminine with a hint of flirty. Balance a ruffled cotton-voile mini dress blouse with espadrilles, accessories and a statement bucket bag.
